Nancy Durstein (1929-2012)
Written By: Joan Campbell

Our dear friend, Nancy Durstein, passed away on December 7, 2012, at the Brookside Hospice in Palm Harbor at the age of 82.  Jesus answered her prayers, as she would say, and took her to heaven.  She was fortunate to have all her family with her at Thanksgiving when they rented a house with seven bedrooms and a great room in Bel Air and transported her for a Thanksgiving celebration with her six children and their spouses and all her grandchildren.  A poem comes to mind when I think of Nancy's life:

I hold no dream of fortune vast,
Nor seek undying fame.
I do not ask when life is past
That many know my name.

I may not own the skill to rise
To glory's topmost height,
Nor win a place among the wise,
But I can keep the right.

And I can live my life on earth
Contented to the end,
If but a few shall know my worth
And proudly call me friend.

--Edgar A. Guest

Her friends have been many throughout her life and her worth has touched many in her church, her community and her good works.

Her husband, Dick (1191 Mineola Circle, Palm Harbor, FL 34683) writes: Her Memorial Service will be on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2 pm at the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor, 2021 Nebraska Ave. It will be a celebration of her life with church service including comments from family members. Following the service there will be a tea and 'crumpet' time in our Fellowship Hall with slides, pictures, etc. All are invited.
